It Ain't Funny

Preface: Today's post is an adaptation of somethings I have read here and there. I am not trying to find fault. I just wanted you to share in the uncomfortable feeling/conviction I felt as I read some of these things. (Misery loves company.) ( :-) Seriously, these are just some observations that will make you think about your walk with God. They sure made me think.

Aint it funny how a $20 bill seems like a such a large amount when you put it in the offering plate, but just a little piece of money when you go shopping?

Aint it funny how 2 hours seems like an eternity when you are in church, but so short when you are surfing the Internet?

Aint it funny how when you are praying, you have to think to find words, but you can talk a blue streak with your friends?

Aint it funny how it is boring to read a chapter in the Bible but fun to read an entire Good Housekeeping magazine?

Aint it funny how you want to sit in the back in church, but in the front at a concert?

Aint it funny how it is hard to memorize a few verses from the Bible, but you can remember every detail of the latest gossip?

Aint it funny how fast we forward cute jokes, but hardly ever forward a Christian messages?

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God be perfect THOROUGHLY FURNISHED UNTO ALL GOOD WORKS. II Tim 3:16,17

But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. ITim 4:7
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. IITim2:16
But avoid foolish questions, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Titus 3:9

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. Titus 3:14

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesying. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. II Thess 5:16-23

Peace be multiplied to you my dear readers. PT2006
